Alaska: Chena River State Recreation Area

Chena River State Recreation Area, on the Chena Hot Springs Road, is less than an hour's drive from Fairbanks.

It offers a full range of recreation, including fishing, boating, and camping. Canoeing on the Chena River and hiking to prominent granite formations in the alpine country are popular summer activities.

Winter adds snow machining, cross-country skiing and dog sledding. Beavers, moose and bears are numerous and often spotted by visitors to the park.
